PARTY TIME!
Merry Christmas! It's a Grand Old Party and this is the season for many celebrations. The biggest was the Northern Idaho
Governor's Ball on December 5, 2007.
I teach a Sunday School Class with K-4th Graders. This month we are studying the virtue PEACE. It is a timely reminder
as we enjoy the seasonal lull where the noise of the fireworks at New Year's Eve will be replaced with the noise from the
starting pistol of the Primary Races. Peace on Idaho and Goodwill toward GOP candidates and their supporters who may find
themselves in different camps until May ends.
T.S. Elliot said: "Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." If you are
involved in your party year round, you know that there is alot going on in the Gem State. Good women and men are fighting
for core beliefs, values, and conservative definitions across the state.
I hope all of us will remember that there is more that unites us than divides us at the end of the night. Think about
the table being set much like a smorgasboard. Let's say that whenever we talk about the brussel sprouts - everyone's blood
pressure rises. When that happens I suggest it's time to take the sprouts off the table and hide them in the kitchen. Now,
can we all please gather round the table, take our seats, and dine on the rest? We can solve most of our perceived problems
over coffee and a conversation (or water). We can hammer arrangements that serve the common goals. We can do it in a manner
that does not mean we gave up something important.
Idaho GOP workers are questioning what is a Republican? Why are elected officials so available when running and why are
they so unavailable when in office? Expectations should be reasonable for folks that are busy. But the elected officials
that fail to maintain contact with strong supporters either personally or through their staff could be missing some valuable
information and/or future support that helps them serve all the people. It's okay to passionately want to change something
or eliminate leadership that you believe is not responding to the majority but you must remember two points: One, most of
the people who elect Republicans in Idaho are not involved in the Republican Party year round. Two, don't ever forget all
the other wonderful qualities that someone may possess or their record of accomplishment as you work for changes that you
believe are necessary. Change can be brought about respectfully.
...In the meantime, there is much to do and if you would like to volunteer an hour or two a month to work on our shared
issues and concerns in the 5 northern counties you can call me anytime at 208)290-2249. If you want to be more involved,
email me at DYoung6962@aol.com and I will help you over commit yourself (smiling). I moved the Inaugural stuff to a different
page, the photo albums are still on the left of your screen.
God Bless Idaho,
Bashful Dan
