The 6th Annual Northern Idaho Governor's Holiday Ball was a SnowBall! Hit with the biggest
snowstorm in Spokane-Cda history John Otter and Deanna (sp) logically jumped in the jeep and drove over the passes from Seattle.
That made the 2.5 hours Christine and I took to drive 45 miles from Sandpoint to the Cda Resort look like a fairytale.
Arriving at the fabulous Coeur d Alene resort after dark is like a fairytale with one of the top 25 Christmas light shows
in the country it is a dazzling display.
Idaho's First Lady, Lori Jean Otter, found herself trapped in Boise along with many other
elected officials that are normally on hand for the Governor's Ball. United States Senator Mike Crapo and Governor C.L.
"Butch" Otter headlined this annual event that was crafted by Steve Casey, Cynthia Jorgenson, Linda Casey, and Senator Mike
Jorgenson. Their leadership with the experts from the Cda Resort resulted in the most intimate and playful Governor's
Ball of all six.
Last year we were treated to the Kelly Hughes Band and a Singing Governor (I have the
video). This year we were flat out impressed with the Rhythm Dawgs and a Dancing Governor! This band was
incredibly fun! Now most of you know that my wife likes to dance slow (probably because I'm so pretty it makes her eyes
hurt) and not fast. It was absolutely painful to not be dancing to every single song from this amazing band and
their super talented lead singer. I was so missing my favorite substitute dance partner, that little fizzy we call Donna
Jones!
Shelly & Jim Robson won for Best Dance Couple this year. Granted Cathyanne &
Bob Nonini were not present but even if they had showed I think it would have been a very close call. Naturally,
I give 90 percent of the credit Shelly but still they win!
Representative Marge Chadderton, Senator John Goedde, sponsors and guests enjoyed terrific
food, sharing time with old friends, and making new ones. Sandy Patano, one of the classiest women in Idaho almost made
you forget that Angela Cross was out of town. Bob and Barbara Brooke were absolutely wonderful (as usual) but especially
with the young Republicans.
Christine & I took some pictures by the fireplace where Butch married us at last years
Ball. The only one missing was Alex (french fries) our Tigerboy. He insisted last year that Mom had to marry me
and him, I had to marry Mom and him, and he had to marry Mom and me. So that's what we did. We had Butch marry
all of us twogedder.
We missed having him with us at the Ball and I suppose that's why we grabbed some coffee and
drove back to Sandpoint. So we could all be twogedder.
Enjoy the pictures,
Bashful Dan Young
